Dean Thompson

Dean is an expert in large-scale distributed systems architecture and in personalization systems. Currently, he is a Principal Architect at LinkedIn, where he is focusing on web application development frameworks.

Dean graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a B.S. in Computer Science in 1989. Since then, he has been part of a series of Pittsburgh-based startups that have all had strong Carnegie Mellon ties. He co-founded Transarc, which was acquired by IBM to become one of the early successful Carnegie Mellon software spin-outs. He spent five great years at MAYA Design Group. Additionally, he was COO at e-Transport (acquired by DesCartes), co-founder and CTO of Premier Health Exchange (acquired by Medibuy), and co-founder and CTO of mSpoke (acquired by LinkedIn).
